Mt Pagon
3rd-4th February 2012
On 3rd Feb 2012 (Thursday), a group of 15 from various countries including Holland, Poland, Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei started out on a two day hike to Brunei’s highest peak. This diverse group came together at the Kuala Lurah Limbang immigration check point. After a briefing, the team set out at 9.00am, with 6 4x4wd vehicles through along tarred and finally rough logging roads. After 3 hours driving and approximately half way to the mountain, we stopped for Lunch. Continuing our journey with perfect sunny weather we reached Mt Pagon base camp around 15oohrs. After setting up our tents we had some free time to relax before the long trek the next day.
On 4th Feb 2012 (Friday), wakeup call was at 3am for breakfast and to prepare for the 4am start the 4km trek through abandoned logging roads to Mt Pagon base. After 2.5hrs, we reached the starting point of our climb. After climbing along steep paths covered in wet moss, with steep overhanging cliffs, you are rewarded with stunning views.
